The Breckon Bred 2019 NZB Standardbred Sales Topper CHALLENGER qualified smartly at Pukekohe this morning for Rogerson Racing Stables in the hands of stable foreman Dylan Ferguson
Challenger, as he’s now known, was Breckon Farms bred & prepared and went through the sales ring at Karaka as Billion Dollar Boy. The hammer fell for him at $190,000 to the bid of astute buyer Graeme Rogerson. The son of Alabar Farms Art Major had a gold plated pedigree being a half brother to multiple Group 1 winner ELLE MAC.
Stable foreman Dylan was complimentary about the talent and manners of the 2YO and fellow Breckon Graduate, Meetmeinsorrento who Graeme purchased for $32,000.
Billy, as he is known around the stables will now target the Breckon Farms sponsored Young Gun series with Heat 1 being run on the the eve of the Inter Dominion Grand Final at Alexandra Park.
We take great pride and satisfaction in watching our 2YO’s coming through, last year 17 of our 20 qualified or raced Australasian wide. We’ve started this season off with bang, can we go even better? Watch this space!
As last years graduates start to appear our focus turns to the 2020 NZB Standardbred sale, where we are proudly offering 34 quality lots for sale.
The draft includes the first foal out of Group 1 winning mare WILLOW, a Bettor's Delight colt out of multiple group 1 winner O'BABY, a Betting Line half-sister to 2YO Colt of the Year ONE CHANGE and a Muscle Hill half-sister to PRINCE FEARLESS & STRESS FACTOR.
With a line up like that and our 2018/19 Season 2YO strike rate it's time to start doing your homework for the 2020 NZB Standardbred Sale to be held on Monday 17 February at Karaka.
