Breckon-bred Renegade stamped his class on Sunday, delivering a dominant performance to claim the Cheviot Cup in style – bringing up back-to-back wins and taking his tally to seven career wins.
The talented four-year-old showed he was ready to mix it with the best when finishing second to Mo’unga in the Group Two Summer Cup and third behind Pinseeker and Rakero Rocket in the Group Three Autumn Free For All.
On Sunday, turning for home, he had a nice break on the capacity field and kept finding – hitting the line strongly to win by 1¾ lengths from race favourite Xlendi.
Trainer Benny Hill summed it up best:
“He’s probably the best one in the barn. It didn’t surprise me what he did today. I thought he could do it. It was probably the way he did it.”
Sold from our NZB Yearling Sale draft for $47,000 to Tony Hickman Bloodstock, the gelding by Captaintreacherous out of Double Shot has now banked over $137,000 in prize money.
Congratulations to all involved – we can’t wait to see what’s next!
