Group race glory continues to come for Breckon Farms
Northern HQ was the location of scenes of celebrations on Friday Night as the Breckon bred’s Hot & Treacherous and Bettor Twist took out the feature events.
Hot & Treacherous (Captaintreacherous - Hot Hooves ) claimed victory in the Group2 Thames Goldfields Summer Cup and Bettor Twist (Bettor’s Delight – Twist and Twirl) secured the Group 1 Rosslands Stud Queen of Hearts title to add her to formidable record.
The 3YO’s made easy work of their older opposition with the Gareth and Brian Hughes trained son of Hot Hooves claiming his career best victory in the Group 3 event.
A brave run for third in the Group 1 Harness Jewels really announced the gelding as one to watch in the black type events and he hasn’t disappointed. A $60,000 NZB Standardbred Sales purchase he has only run out of the money seven times in his career for his owners Miss B J Twomey, Mrs K M Brown and the Four Four Two Syndicate.
Franklin Cup bound on Dec 31st he will run in to fellow Friday night winner Bettor Twist.
The star 3YO filly made easy work of her opposition to claim her seventh Group 1 title for the Breckon Farms Take Ten Syndicate. With bubbles of 100 back in action at the park, members of the Syndicate were on track to celebrate this class filly’s success in style. Of special note was the reuniting of the Breckon Family after being separated over lockdown, Andrew Breckon didn’t muck around and was quick to get into the sprit of the event celebrating the Group1 how it should be celebrated!
Prepared by Brent Mangos, Andre Poutama and the team at Pukekohe for Mark Purdon and Hayden Cullen the win was apt with Brent able to return the Group1 success after Mark and Hayden prepared South Coast Arden for his Cup Week assignments when Brent was stuck in Auckland over lock down.
It continues Brent and Hayden’s strong record in the prestigious event. They claimed victory twice when they were in training partnership with the great mare Bettor Cover Lover.
We look forward to the clash on NYE of the these quality three-year olds.
