The week that was….29/10

Breckon Farm winners this past week included Spankem (4g Bettor’s Delight / Crushem by Holmes Hanover) who won at Kaikoura on the 29th October where he started from the outside barrier in the Standing Start Gr.2 Kaikoura Cup, getting away safely and settling in the breeze until taking the lead down the back the first time and led them along at a good pace, going on to hold all at bay for a strong win in a 1.59.2 Mile Rate for the 2400m Stand and a last 800m of 55.4 and 400m of 26.4 to now have 6 wins & 12 placings for $270,744 – raced by Glenys & Philip Kennard, Breckon Racing Syndicate, Jim & Anne Gibbs, Garry & Kerry Woodham.

Our Max Phactor (6g Art Major / Tact Philly by In the Pocket) won at Gloucester Park on the 30th October starting off the 30m Mark with 2-runners off 20m, one off 10m and 3-runners from the Front, he broke for a few strides at the start before settling down, going quickly forward to hit the lead after approximately 550m and was never headed, winning by 3.8m with the last 800m in 57.3 and the 400m in 28.5 to now be 8-from-8 in Australia and have lifetime earnings of $193,085 from his 17 wins – bred by Breckon Bloodstock Ltd.

Ruby Rose (3f Bettor’s Delight / Maid In Splendour by Christian Cullen) won at Addington on the 2nd November where she drew No.2 and began well, then got the trail, with no change in the order with a round-to-go, she came through on the passing lane to win by a head with the last 800m in 56.7 and the 400m in 27.7 for a Mile Rate of 1:59.8 for the 1980m in the Alabar 3YO Sires Stakes Heat – bred by Breckon Farms Ltd. 

Laceys Lad (4g Lis Mara / Van Seraa by Christian Cullen) won at Newcastle on the 3rd November drawing No.4 he showed gate speed to end up in the 1×1 and was still there at the bell, before coming 3-wide into the straight and going on to win by a head and now has 6 wins & 2 placings for 24,220 – bred by Biddlecombe Equine Ltd. 

Vettel (5g American Ideal / Talks To Angels by Bettor’s Delight) won at Redcliffe also on the 3rd November where he drew No.1 and went out fast to retain the lead and was still there at the bell before going on to win by 5.5m in a 1:57.9 Mile Rate for the 2040m journey and now has 11 wins & 10 placings for $61,095 – bred by Breckon Farms Ltd.

Our Positano (5g Bettor’s Delight / Kelly Maguire by Christian Cullen) won at Melton also on the 3rd November drawing No.1 he went to the lead, with the challenges starting at the 500m point, but he was too good and too strong, winning by 2m in a Mile Rate of 1:57.2 for the 1720m journey to now have 12 wins & 10 placings for $97,223 – bred by Breckon Farms Ltd.

Placed horses this week were Cha Cha B 3rd at Manawatu, Stylish Trend 2nd at Launceston, My Kiwi Lady 3rd at Shepparton, Wise Goddess 2nd and Our Dream To Reality 2nd both at Newcastle, Lovin Miss Daisy 2nd at Menangle, Popcorn Sutton 2nd at Melton, Shandance 2nd at Dubbo.

In the USA …

Lerato (5m Art Major / Suidelike Meisie by Christian Cullen) won at Dayton Raceway on the 29th October where she drew No.1 and was 2nd at the end of the first ¼, in front at the half and stayed in the lead to win and run the mile in 1:54.3 – bred by K & D Madgewick.
